The organizing committee of the 2007 Change Conference are excited to present to you, the following individuals and organizations who represent a wide range of ideals and passions:
Phan Thi Kim Phuc
Kim Phuc is the subject of one of the most compelling
photos of the Vietnam War, the innocent nine-year-old victim, burnt by napalm.
Since then she has dedicated her life to "healing
children of war" through medical and psychological assistance offered by
the Kim Foundation.
Tickets for this keynote speaker are only $10 and is open to non-delegates.

Guy Dauncey
Guy Dauncey, author of Earth Future & Stormy Weather
and nationally recognized public
speaker, comes to help us develop a
"positive
vision on a sustainable future and translate that
vision into
action."
Alan Clements
After having trained as a Bhudist monk in Burma for
around ten years, Clements has "disrobed" as a renowned artist,
author, activist and spiritual teacher.
Known in Canada for his "Spiritually Incorrect" monologue, he serves as a "voice for freedom and dignity." At this years conference he comes to start us off on a high note connecting freedom and dignity with contemporary spirituality.

Julie Wafaei
An advocate for human-powered travel, Julie joined husband
Colin Angus for most of a human-powered circumnavigation of the globe,
including rowing 10,000 km unsupported across the Atlantic ocean and cycling
15,000 km over three continents.
She is the first woman to row across the Atlantic from mainland to mainland and the first Canadian woman to row across any ocean.
Brendan McLeod
Brendan is a high energy storyteller equally at home with social and political commentary, family histrionics, surreal love poems, obscure adventure stories, and powerful personal stories. He runs the gamut of performance poetry, making him an effective live performer and an artist well equipped for collaboration.
The CBC have eloquently dubbed this guest speaker as "Canada's top SLAM spieler".
The Sierra Club
Emily Menzies comes on behalf of the Sierra Club to offer
an interactive workshop on how students can make their schools significantly
more sustainable through the Sustainable High Schools project (a project supported
by the Sierra Club of Canada).
The Land Conservancy
Also known as TLC, The Land Conservancy is a
non-profit, charitable Land Trust working throughout British Columbia.
TLC protects important habitat for plant, animals and natural communities as well as properties with historical, cultural, scientific, scenic or compatible recreational value.

Island's Centre for Integral Economics is a registered charitable non-profit
organization which promotes innovative economic tools and policies that will
redirect the powerful influence of the marketplace toward sustainability.
Working with business, government and non-profit partners, the Centre for Integral Economics encourages innovative strategies that reconcile economic prosperity, social justice and environmental integrity.
Speaking on behalf of the Centre is Donna Morton, founder and executive director for the centre, recently recognized by Ashoka Foundation as a leader in social change innovation and has extensive experience in building relationships between business and non-profits, strategic policy development, communications and government relations.
Victoria International Development Education
Association
VIDEA has been promoting global citizenship in Victoria since 1977. It is
one of Canada's oldest and most respected global education centres.
VIDEA helps youth to become involved and informed on international issues, putting the greatest focus on responsible and sustainable development. They help students link international issues with local initiatives, engaging youth to become involved in the journey to build a better world.
Veterans Against Nuclear Arms
VANA is an organization of Canadian War Veterans opposed
to the continuation of the development of nuclear weapons.
Their goal is to ensure a secure future for the human race, by working for the total abolition of nuclear weapons and war, strengthening and renewing the United Nations, supporting the U.N. in peacekeeping operations, achieving a global common security under international law and joining with veterans and others in a global quest to end the arms race.
LifeCycles
LifeCycles is a nonprofit organization dedicated to
cultivating awareness and initiating action around food, health, and urban
sustainability in the Greater Victoria community.
They work pro-actively to promote and create personal, shared and community gardens, research, and educational activities and youth skills development programs. Through partnerships they strengthen individual, community and global health.
Speaking on behalf of LifeCycles is Kezia Cowtan
Dr. William E. Rees
Dr. Rees, professor at the University of British
Columbia's School of Community and Regional Planning, comes to speak at the
conference with a lifetime of experience.
He founded the schools Environment and Resource Planning concentration and is best known for inventing the "Ecological Footprint Analysis".
Dr. Rees has been invited to speak at lectures on is expertise across the globe including Canada, the US, as well as twenty other countries.
Victoria Youth Council
Speaking on
behalf of the Council is coordinator Chelsea Peddle.
Chelsea is a local youth service provider and activist specializing in supporting the development of youth-driven projects. In 2004, she spearheaded the development of the City of Victoria Youth Council, a yout-driven group whose purpose is to improve youths' participation in municipal decision making. She has a masters degree in Social Justice Education and has acted as an educator and consultant on issues ranging from advocacy to anti-racism. Chelsea is currently the coordinator of Volunteer Victoria's Youth Volunteer Connection Program.
Smart Growth
Smart Growth is a collection of urban development
strategies to reduce sprawl that are fiscally, environmentally and socially
responsible. Smart growth is development that enhances our quality of life,
protects our environment, and uses tax revenues wisely.
Speaking on behalf of Smart Growth is Jason Emmert.
Mike is a caring, experienced and charismatic facilitator, event planner, large group animator, youth worker, song leader, freestyle rap artist, and founder of the Beatboard.
Mike is back, participating in his third consecutive Change Conference.

Emrys Miller of Rocket Day Arts and Valerie Elliott of ID2 Communications, both members of the Graphic Designers of Canada, Vancouver Island Chapter will present a workshop on Social Responsibility in Design Communications and Public Relations.
Rocket Day Arts is a full service communications firm for the arts, education and social and environmental health sectors.
ID2 Communications specializes in the ethical managment and production of communications with a focus on sustainability.
Positively Africa
Positively Africa is a member of the Interagency Coalition on Aids and Development. Founder and Director is Peggy Frank.
